Freddie Freeman Continues His Hot Streak With Two Homers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

Freddie Freeman Continues His Hot Streak vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

Freddie Freeman got off to a some what slow start in this young 2012 baseball season but it looks like he is finally heating up at the plate. A couple nights back (4-19-2012) the Atlanta Braves were in Arizona playing the Diamondbacks.

The Braves spanked the D-Backs by the score of 10-2 but that's just part of the story. Freddie Freeman had a huge night at the plate. Freeman went 3-5 with 2 home runs and drove in 5 RBI. He also scored 2 runs. He has raised his batting average to .260.

Freddie Freeman was the talk of baseball when he came up to the big leagues in 2011. Now in 2012, it appears that he just might avoid the sophomore "jinx" that seems to plague some highly touted players. For example his teammate Jason Heyward had an awful season in 2011 after having a solid rookie year in 2010. Hopefully, Freeman can avoid this jinx for the full 2012 baseball season.

It is fun to watch this big first baseman when he is clicking at the plate. He has a quick, chopping swing that looks like he is cutting down a tree or something. But lately, those big choppy swings have been connecting and sending the ball a long way.

Baseball card collectors better hurry up and get their hands on those Freddie Freeman 2007 Bowman Chrome Draft and 2009 Bowman Chrome rookie cards before they catch fire again because it looks like he sure has at the moment.

Is Freddie Freeman Finally Heating Up At The Plate?

Freddie Freeman Looks Like He Is Starting to Heat Up

Is Freddie Freeman finally heating up at the plate?Last night's Atlanta Braves-New York Mets game featured two rivals from the National League East.

It was all Atlanta in last night's match up as they whipped the Mets by the score of 14-6. But for Braves fans it was great to see Freddie Freeman finally break out a little bit and have a solid night at the plate. Freeman hit
his first home run of the 2012 season and went 2-4 with 3 RBI.

Freddie Freeman had been in a slump up until last night's ball game so hopefully this will get him going. If Freeman can start mashing the ball again this will be good news for Freddie Freeman rookie card collectors.

On a side note, the Mets also have a very nice young player who had a solid night at the plate in last night's Braves-Mets game. I am talking about Center fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis. This kid looks like he can hit and Mets' manager Terry Collins recently hinted that he needed to get more playing time for the youngster Nieuwenhuis.

Even though the New York Mets lost big time to the Atlanta Braves last night, Kirk Nieuwenhuis still had a nice ball game at the plate. He went 3-4 with an RBI and 3 runs scored. Mets' fans are really excited about this kid and rightly so. A lot of good young talent in Major League baseball right now.

Freddie Freeman's Double Play Ends The Atlanta Braves 2011 Season

Freddie Freeman Grounds Into Double-Play To End Braves Season

The Atlanta Braves September collapse finally came to a merciful end last night as they lose 4-3 in 13 innings to the Philadelphia Phillies to end their 2011 season.

With the loss, the Braves postseason hopes went down the drain. Instead, the St. Louis Cardinals will take their place as they win the 2011 NL Wild Card by beating the Houston Astros last night 8-0 behind Chris Carpenter's complete game shutout.

The Braves had plenty of chances to put the Phillies away and at least force a one game playoff with the Cardinals. With Atlanta leading 3-2 going into the top of the ninth inning, rookie closer Craig Kimbrel came on to get the final three outs.

But the Phillies' Placido Polanco immediately hit a single to right. Kimbrel then struck out Carlos Ruiz swinging for the first out. Ben Francisco then drew a one out walk to put runners on first and second with one out. Jimmy Rollins also drew a one out walk to load the bases and bring up Chase Utley. Utley hit a deep fly ball to left to drive in the runner from third with a sacrifice fly, tying the score at 3-3.

The game eventually went the 13th and the Phillies got a run to go up by the score 4-3. Enter the bottom of the 13th. Atlanta had one more chance to save their 2011 season!

With David Herndon now pitching for the Phillies, Chipper Jones struck out on a foul tip for the first out. Herndon then walked Dan Uggla to put a runner on with one out. Up stepped rookie Freddie Freeman. I'm not a Braves' fan but I was really pulling for Freeman to hit a walk-off two run homer and send Atlanta to at least a Wild Card tie with the Cardinals. But it didn't happen. Freeman took a strike to make it 0-1. Then he took three pitches for balls to make the count 3-1. The next pitched was fouled off as the count went full at 3-2. On the 3-2 pitch, Freddie Freeman hit a sharp grounder to the first baseman, who then threw to second for the force and a return throw to first completed the season ending double play.
A real heart breaker for all Atlanta Braves fans.

And even though Freddie Freeman hit into the double play that ended the Braves season, the rookie has nothing to be ashamed about. He had a solid rookie campaign. Freddie freeman's final numbers for the 2011 baseball season were very impressive. He played in 157 ball games and hit .282 with 21 homers and 76 RBI. He also hit
32 doubles and had 161 total hits. And the good news for Braves' fans is that Freddie Freeman will only get better.

Freddie Freeman Does Not Fear The Beard As He Beats Brian Wilson And The Giants

Freddie Freeman's Walk Off Hit Beats Brian Wilson And The Giants

What a great game last night on ESPN between the Atlanta Braves and San Francisco Giants. Well, maybe not so much for Giants' fans as it turned out!

The Giants were leading the Braves 4-2 entering the ninth inning. Hard luck San Francisco left-hander Madison Bumgarner pitched a great game as he held Atlanta to two runs on eight hits through seven innings of work. Bumgarner looked like he had FINALLY got enough run support from his offense to win the ball game.

Giants' manager Bruce Bochy brought in the bearded one, Brian Wilson, to finish off the Braves. But Wilson was not sharp at all as he quickly gave up an infield single to the Braves' Jose Constanza. Eric Hinske then drew a walk to put runners on first and second with no outs for Atlanta.

Julio Lugo was brought in to pinch run for Hinske. Michael Bourn then hit a sacrifice bunt to move both runners up to second and third. Martin Prado then hit a 1-2 pitch into left field for an RBI single as Constanza scored. That now made the score 4-3 Giants still in front.

Brian Wilson then walked Hot hitting Brian McCann to load the bases and put the winning run on second base. So, with the bases loaded, Dan Uggla stepped up to the plate. Uggla has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball the last month or so. He had a 33 game hitting streak that was snapped a day earlier, and it took a great catch to end his streak.

With the bases juiced, Brian Wilson struck out Uggla swinging on a 1-2 pitch. It looked like the Giants would hang for the victory.

But up stepped rookie Freddie Freeman to the plate to face off against the bearded one. Wilson quickly got the count to 1-2 as Freeman fouled one off and took a strike. Freeman then showed a great eye at the plate as he took the count to 3-2.

Then it happened! On Brian wilson's 3-2 pitch, Freddie Freeman hit a scorcher line drive up the middle for a 2-run, walk off, game winning single as both Lugo and Prado raced home for the Braves' 5-4 win.

The game winning single off the Giants' Brian Wilson was without a doubt the biggest hit for Freddie Freeman in his young career. Braves' fans are hoping for many more of these game winning hits by Freddie Freeman for the next 10-15 years. A great ball game!

Freddie Freeman 2011 Bowman Platinum Refractor Auto Bat Card

Freddie Freeman 2011 Bowman Platinum Blue Refractor Auto Bat Card

Looking through some more Freddie Freeman auto cards on eBay, I came across this 2011 Bowman Platinum refractor auto bat card numbered to 99.

I have to say, this is one of the coolest looking Freddie Freeman auto cards out there. Even though the card did not sell, it is still an eye-catcher with the blue coloring and the sweet game-used memorabilia piece of a baseball bat used by Freeman.

The seller was asking a starting bid of $59.99, which is pretty high for a Freddie Freeman non-rookie card. At the moment, there is another Freddie Freeman 2011 Bowman Platinum Auto refractor bat card that is numbered to 115 (Kind of a weird number). It currently has 7 bids and is at $21.30 with a day and a half left until the auction ends.

As mentioned above, A really nice looking Freddie Freeman auto card. To view current auctions for

Freddie Freeman's hitting Streak Hits 14 Games

Freddie Freeman Extends His Hit Streak To 14 Games

Freedie Freeman extended his hitting streak to 14 games in Atlanta's 5-1 win over the Florida Marlins earlier today. He went 2-4 and has reached base safely in 36 of the last 40 games played.

Freeman's streak is the longest for any rookie playing right now in the Major Leagues. In his 99 at bats this month (July), the rookie first baseman is hitting a scorching .374.

Freddie Freeman's teammate Dan Uggla isn't doing too bad at the plate either right now. After getting off to a horrible start in his first year with the Braves, Uggla has pounded the baseball as of late. In the win over his former Marlins team today he hit a 3-run homer, his 20th. Uggla is currently riding a 21 game hitting streak. Since the streak began, Dan Uggla is batting .338 with 8 home runs and 18 RBI.

Freddie Freeman and Dan Uggla have carried the Braves offense ever since all-star catcher Brian McCann went down with an injury due to a strained left oblique. The two sluggers have the Braves sitting at 63-45 as they try and keep up with the front running Philadelphia Phillies, who currently have a 5 game lead in the NL East division.
